Breast Surgery Tops 2012 Procedures
March 18th, 2013
Breast surgery returns to the top of the most popular cosmetic surgeries for 2012. According to The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), more than 330,000 women chose to have cosmetic breast surgery, making it the most popular surgery again. It replaces liposuction, which comes in a close second with over 300,000 procedures performed last year. The remaining top 5 for cosmetic surgery trends include abdominoplasty or tummy tuck, eyelid surgery and rhinoplasty or nose jobs. In my own practice, I have also seen more interest in facial rejuvenation, as well.
Vampire Facial Media Hype
March 13th, 2013
“Vampire Facial†or blood facial is just another attempt for media hype behind clever marketing of an anti-aging quick fix. The phony procedure is based on real stem cell rejuvenation, but it is likely that all the blood is staged to create media buzz for the Kardashians. Unfortunately this strategy has proven to be successful to keep celebrities in the news and money in their pockets. It is certainly ill-advised for a pregnant woman to have such a procedure because of possible health risks, so I question the wisdom of such a stunt.
