Mikaela’s Blog: Mother’s Perspective
How old is old enough? Mikaela asks me how soon she can get in to see Dr. Bashioum. I once again go through all of the issues related to surgical risk, body image, expectations, etc. As a mother and a nurse in Dr. Bashioum’s office, I want her to make an informed decision. Mikaela has always been a “thinkerâ€, and does not make decisions on a whim. I soon realize that she was certain about moving forward. She has had an amazing senior year of high school and she decides that she will wait until after her Lacrosse season and graduation to have the surgery. I think she has made a wise decision and although there may be other plastic surgeons that would do the surgery sooner, I agree that waiting is best.
