Can Breasts be Restored After Pregnancy?

June 4th, 2015

Dr. Bashioum on KQRS Las Vegas broadcastWondering about what can be done to restore breasts after physical changes due to pregnancy and nursing? Meet our patient, Jennifer, who graciously shared her own personal experience in a short  Documentary Film  (video located bottom of page). Jennifer candidly discusses considering and deciding to have breast enlargement restoration surgery following the birth of her children. Her story is typical of patients we see that are unhappy with the physical changes that may occur following pregnancy and is considered part of the Mommy Makeover surgeries.  Breast restoration  surgery might include breast enlargement, breast lift or the newest technique called  Nipntuck Natural ® lipo-fat injections  to increase breast fullness that’s often lost following pregnancy.

Mommy Makeover: Breast Restoration on TV

February 6th, 2014

Our Mommy Makeover series continues for another segment for Twin Cities Live  on KSTP-TV. A  patient shares her own personal experience about considering and deciding to have breast restoration surgery.

Most of the women that come to me for consultations about breast surgery following pregnancy, complain that their breast size or shape has changed. Physical changes may occur to the breasts after pregnancy even in the absence of breast-feeding. Breast restoration surgery addresses these changes.

Patients often report that there is reduced fullness on the top of their breasts, just above the nipple, along with a general change in breast size. The decreased fullness may be interpreted as sagging or a loss of “perkiness.” The most common concern that I hear is the complaint of overall diminished breast size after pregnancy. Women sometimes choose breast restoration surgery as part of a Mommy Makeover, which may also include a tummy tuck.

Augmentation mammoplasty or breast enlargement surgery is the primary procedure that is used to restore breasts to the size they were before pregnancy. According to the  The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS),  about 312,000 breast enlargement surgeries were performed last year, making it the number one requested cosmetic surgery. However, there are no specific statistics on how many women chose breast surgery as part of a Mommy Makeover.

Tune in to watch our patient’s story of surgery, recovery, and then we reveal her final result on TCL. In case you miss catching the episode live, click here to watch.
