Minimizing Surgery Scars

Anytime the skin is cut, a scar will form to close the wound, so scars are inevitable following most surgeries. Emergency surgery will unfortunately leave scars that are usually more obvious, due to having to react quickly to save a life. The trade-off is obvious. Plastic surgeons have considerable training in this regard. Elective cosmetic surgery does allow time for planning, so the telltale surgery scars are often minimized by the advantage of careful incision placement. This planning allows for specific design of scar placement and the application of technologies that contribute to reducing the appearance of most scars.
I intentionally place any visible scars in such a way that they are either easily covered by the smallest bathing suit a patient is likely to wear or able to be concealed with makeup and/or hairstyle. Elegant surgical design is possible when all these things are taken into consideration. Having the time and experience in making preparations for the surgical plan offers the best opportunity to minimize noticeable scars following surgery.
Time for Reunion Make-over?

Is it too late for a college reunion make-over? Fortunately, most college reunions take place during the fall homecoming season, so there is probably adequate time for cosmetic surgery recovery.
Modern facelift techniques have a relatively short recovery period, so most patients are out and about in six to seven days after surgery. However, the initial swelling and healing period following the surgery lasts for about 6 to 8 weeks. Assuming you are a good candidate for surgery, having the surgery now provides adequate recovery time for recovery before traveling to attend a college reunion.
It is important to remember a couple of things. First of all, it is never wise to plan elective surgery too close to a big event because there is often significant stress involved. Secondly, it is your responsibility to follow before and after instructions carefully for facelift surgery. A smooth recovery often rests on the patient’s willingness to follow the doctor’s orders after surgery. Finally, scheduling to have facelift surgery completed at least 6 to 8 weeks before any big event, will allow you to be confident that you look and feel your best.
