Flag Day: The First American Flag

June 14th, 2012

Flag Day. There are many theories surrounding the birth of the first American flag.  According to US-Flag.net, the one that seems most probable is; Betsy Ross, a known seamstress, was called upon by three members of a Committee from the Continental Congress in May 1776. George Washington, Robert Morris, and George Ross, asked Betsy to sew the first US flag, from a design they had created.
