Friday Photo: Woodland Strawberries
July 12th, 2013
Those of you who follow my “Friday Photos” might remember that I enjoy growing unusual fruits and vegetables in my Wayzata garden. It’s the season now for the tiny white fraise de bois or woodland strawberries. Since they are so small, it takes considerable effort to gather a bowlful, but the reward is worthwhile. They are really delicious and too fragile to ever be found in the market. The white strawberries (actually yellowish), can be seen in my garden photo here.
Time for Reunion Make-over?
July 10th, 2013
Is it too late for a college reunion make-over? Fortunately, most college reunions take place during the fall homecoming season, so there is probably adequate time for cosmetic surgery recovery.
Modern facelift techniques have a relatively short recovery period, so most patients are out and about in six to seven days after surgery. However, the initial swelling and healing period following the surgery lasts for about 6 to 8 weeks. Assuming you are a good candidate for surgery, having the surgery now provides adequate recovery time for recovery before traveling to attend a college reunion.
It is important to remember a couple of things. First of all, it is never wise to plan elective surgery too close to a big event because there is often significant stress involved. Adequate preparation time for surgery and recovery help alleviate this added stress. We have several of my patients who wrote blog diaries about their own experience having a facelift. Please use our Search Feature at the bottom right side of the page; to read patient diaries, some include actual surgery footage.
Secondly, it is your responsibility to follow before and after instructions carefully for facelift surgery. A smooth recovery often rests on the patient’s willingness to follow the doctor’s orders after surgery. The detailed instructions that I give to my patients are designed to reduce the risks of complications and offer the best insurance for a speedy recovery. In addition, my patients have 24/7 access to reach me with any questions or concerns following their surgery. I find that patient’s that worry less when they can have a question answered quickly. Finally, scheduling to have facelift surgery completed at least 6 to 8 weeks before any big event, will allow you to be confident that you look and feel your best.
