Saving money on surgery may sound like a great deal, but there can be hidden costs.Traveling to a foreign country for cosmetic surgery may come with extra costs due to complications abroad or more frequently, having to be have sorted out back at home. Is it worth it?

Complications from botched procedures abroad actually cost the U.S. healthcare system an estimated $1.3 billion a year, according to one recent study. Upward of 15 million Americans are seeking medical care overseas every year, and it’s a growing concern. Dr. Ralph Bashioum discusses some of the problems and possible dangers associated with having surgery abroad in this interview with Pat Evans at KARE TV in Minneapolis.
