Dr. Bashioum’s Friday Photo: Harvest Before the Frost

November 2nd, 2012

I picked these tomatoes just before the last frost a couple weeks ago.  We had a bunch of greens ones, too, that I put on the window sill to ripen.  We are officially out of fresh garden tomatoes until next summer.  Although Lindsay did manage to oven-roast some in the weeks leading up to the cold weather, to help us get us through the winter!

Body Tune- Up: When Exercise and Diet Fail

November 1st, 2012

Remember those old rubber suits people used to wear when they exercised?  That was one of the many diet and exercise myths exposed as nonsense.   Weight loss was temporary and just left customers dehydrated, but admittedly few pounds lighter for a short time.

There is a volume information on weight loss floating around the web, how do know what to believe?   While the gimmicks are more sophisticated now, the old saying still holds true.   If it looks too good to be true, it probably is more hype than truth.   So, when exercise and diet doesn’t seem to do the trick for localized fat deposits or muffin tummy, it might be time to consider cosmetic surgery options.  I recommend that patients should be within striking distance of their target weight when considering liposuction or tummy tuck surgery.   Although over 1.5 million people had cosmetic surgery last year,  surgery is not a quick fix for considerable weight loss, but it is ideal for those stubborn areas.   A consultation with a board certified cosmetic surgeon is the best way to find out if you might be a candidate for a slimming nipntuck.
