Chives in Bloom!

This is a photo sent to me this week from a friend. Chives that are left unharvested end up with these beautiful flowers. Artichokes also produce a lovely purple flower. That is, if you can resist harvesting them and enjoying them by dunking the steamed leaves in melted butter!
Espalier Apple Trees in Blossom

My hand-crafted espalier apple trees are in blossom, framed by a wonderful carpet of frais de bois or yellow woodland strawberries. This is my favorite time of year, besides harvesting the bounty later this Fall and sharing with family and friends.
