Good Wine with Good Friends
August 8th, 2011
Pictured here, we shared a small bottle of Strawman dessert wine by Sine Qua Non with friends at Heidi’s Restaurant in Minneapolis last week.
The rich dessert wine is 100% Semillon and made in the style of a vin de paille or dried berry (grape) method, where the grapes are dried on straw mats. Most of the grapes used by SQN are sourced from vineyards in Santa Barbara County. Thank you Deb and Stuart for sharing it with us.
Weekend at the Races
July 22nd, 2011
My winemaking pal of Napa Valley’s Kitchak Cellars has too many hobbies! I’m here with Peter Kitchak as he prepares for another race in his vintage Porsche at the Road America Race Track, Elkhart Lake, WI last weekend. Peter’s vintage racecars at the track were under the expert supervision of race preparation of David Moore and his crew from Moorespeed, located in Austin, Texas.
We celebrated Peter’s First Place qualifying finish by sharing a bottle of our 2006 Adagio that recently received a Double Gold medal at the 2011 San Francisco International Wine Competition in June.
