Inchon Landing Re-creation

September 22nd, 2010

One of the most memorable experiences in South Korea was the joint operation re-enactment  of the Inchon landing sixty years ago.   General Douglas MacArthur  walked ashore as part of this operation.   The serviceman playing the General’s role is flanked by others dressed in US soldier period dress.   You can make out our film crew in the background.   My wife and I were both touched when ROK veterans thanked us for the US involvement in the war. The ceremony was part of the 60th anniversary of the Korean War.

In North Korea

September 21st, 2010

This photo is taken in the main meeting  room on the border between South and North Korea.   We (the film crew) are actually standing a few feet into North Korea.   The ROK soldier to our right is a Taekwon-do  black belt.   He is in the ready position prepared for possible aggression from the North Korean soldiers on the other side of the wall behind him.   We were told by the corporal guiding us, “Do not touch him because he will touch you back!”   Proof positive  of the persistent tension in the DMZ. Our son, (rt) Josh Bashioum and production assistant,  (middle) Ryan Bethea are pictured with me.
