Endeavour Lands in LA

Yesterday the space shuttle Endeavour took off from Edwards Air Force Base and began its California tour, delighting crowds in Southern California.   Our neighbor, Eliot Sakhartov, snapped this photo and if you look closely, you can see the Hollywood sign in the distance.

After it landed at LAX, the shuttle will be housed at a United Airlines hangar until Oct. 12 and then begin a two-day celebratory tour along the city streets.  The tour will end at Endeavour’s permanent home, a new addition to the CA Science Center Air and Space Museum in Los Angeles.   Endeavour will be displayed in the Samuel Oschin Space Shuttle Endeavour Display Pavilion, opening October 30.
